In the Malay language, Kuching means ‘cat’, rich in history with old-world charms blended into 21st century modernity, the city originally a busy riverine trading post in the old days, is today a delightful blend of the old and new. Best known as Sarawak’s main point of entry, the city features a blend of colourful shop-houses and trendy urban architecture. Although it is not exactly a place that never sleeps, there is certainly enough to keep you well-occupied during your time in Kuching.


Day One,  Arrive Kuching
On arrival at KuchingInternationalAirport  you will be met by your local representative and transfer to your hotel.
The remainder of the day/evening is at leisure.

Day Two,  Kuchingkuching 2
After breakfast at the Hotel proceed for a Half Day Kuching City Tour.
A “must see” introduction to Sarawak, this charming green and airy city offers a mix of well preserved Colonial buildings and gracious modern architecture. Considered as one of the South East Asia’s most pleasant city, life is still unfurls at a leisurely pace for the multi-ethnic population. The usual tour will take visitors pass the main attractions such as the Chinatown, the CatMonument, OldestChineseTemple where devotees pray for prosperity, CivicTower for a bird’s eye view of Kuching city, the Main Bazaar where the early Chinese Traders have set up their “shophouses”, the Colonial Centre, Sarawak Craft Centre, stop at the famous Kuching Waterfront and of course at the Sarawak Museum of Ethnology.
The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day Three, Kuchingkuching 3
Breakfast at the Hotel.
Transfer to the Wharf to board a Dutch Marine boat for Memorial Service.
Pick up and transfer back to hotel.

Day Four, Kuching / Annah Rais Longhouse
Today after a hearty breakfast at the Hotel we will take you for a half day Annah Rais Bidayuh Longhouse Tour. Ethnic diversity is what attracts most visitors to Sarawak. There are 27 distinct indigenous ethnic groups in Sarawak that speak 45 different languages and dialects and are proud to call Sarawak their home.
Bidayuh classified as the Dayak people are the second biggest ethnic group in The Land of Hornbill after Iban. The word Bidayuh came from Dayak Language which means ‘inhabitants of land’.
This tour will take you on a pleasant drive into the countryside of undulating landscapes of limestone hills and valleys, covered with the greenery of rainforest offers a gorgeous sight before you arrive at the longhouse. Annah Rais Longhouse is a traditional tiered longhouses built up on a hillside some 200 years ago. Walk on the bamboo plat-form of the longhouses which are connected by wooden bridges and observe the daily activities of the longhouse community. The Bidayuhs are absolutely warm and gentle people whose previous generations once lived as farmers and believed in animism.

Day Five, 17 May 2012 ~ Kuchingkuching 4
Breakfast at the Hotel.
Today is free at leisure, take a walk along the award- winning Kuching Waterfront, a beautifully landscaped esplanade on a stretch of the old part of the city. It is the main gathering place especially as the sun sets beyond the scenic Matang Mountains.
Near the Waterfront, shops on the Main Bazaar dating back to 1864 offer a rich variety of souvenirs, antiques, arts and crafts or sale. The city offers entertainment and nightlife to suit most tastes and eating out is a favourite pastime among city folk. Restaurants, food courts and open-air eateries offer a wide variety from traditional Chinese, Indian and Malay to contemporary Japanese as well as Western cuisines.

Day Six, Depart Kuching
Breakfast at the Hotel. Free at leisure until departure transfer
Meal included :                      Breakfast Only / D in Hotel Majapahit in Surabaja
